I was delighted recently to be asked to do the PR again for the 10 Parishes Festival 2013. It’s a wonderful biennial explosion of arts and crafts, performance, carnival and music in West Somerset, in and around lovely Wiveliscombe.
Artists of all kinds either throw open their homes as galleries or set up shop in venues as diverse as garage workshops to hotels and village halls, alongside performances and events in nine days of celebration.
And ‘set up shop’ it is, because the Festival has helped generate thousands of pounds not just for the participating artists and performers, but stallholders at the Festival Street Market and local traders too.
It creates a terrific buzz in the area and a great sense of community for everyone involved or visiting.
A friend from London asked recently what on earth there was to do outside of the cities. The 10 Parishes Festival is one great answer - and we’re so lucky in this part of the world, there are hundreds of others too!
